Weather report: June wettest since 2009

- SCOTT MCLEAN

After a relatively dry April and May the month of June this year turned out to be the wettest June in Stirling since records began in 2009.

A a total of 119.6mm of rain fell on the city over the course of the month.

In keeping with that theme, it was another wet week, with over two inches of rainfall for the whole week with only one dry day. Temperature wise it was also a poor week with only one day just creeping above 20 Centigrade and add in the blustery conditions it was a summer week to forget.

The lowest Temperature was 7.8 Centigrade, on Saturday, July 4.

The maximum daily rainfall was 17.53mm on Friday, July 3, for a weekly total of 54.61mm.

Wind speeds reached 29mph on Monday, June 30.

Looking at the week ahead, overall it should be drier than recent weeks although there will still be some showers especially midweek and perhaps on Friday. The weekend is looking mostly dry with sunny intervals and light wind.

Wind should be light for most of the week although it could increase later in the week for a time and the temperature will be around average for this time of year, between 17 and 20 Centigrade.

The earliest sunrise will be at 4.49am, with the latest sunset at 9.53pm.

Did You know: There have been some very wet months in 2020, so how does the rainfall figures for the first six months compare to the first six months of 2019? The first half of 2020 we recorded 842.03mm compared to 490.19mm. If it were not for a dry April this year we could have been looking at double the rainfall this year compared to last year.
