With the threat of war with Germany growing, Stirlingshire Education Committee met in July 1939 to put in place measures required in the event of an emergency.
Teachers were told they would have to show `initiative resource and adaptability’ to cope with an expected influx of children evacuated from the towns and cities likely to be targeted in a war.
