Congestion solutions andteacher tributes

-

In Friday’s Stirling Observer we told how plans to relaunch tourist boat trips on Loch Katrine as lockdown eased have been scuppered with the closure of the A821 approach road to Trossachs Pier.

Bosses at The Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd fear that the move will put jobs at risk. The company have said their plans were thwarted with the closure of the main access road, the A821, because of congestion on the route.

Alanwallace said:“get a fleet of trucks up to remove the dumb parkers’ cars and charge heavily to get them back.”

Cam Buchanan posted:“maybe the council could build a bigger car park for all the overspill of cars. They’ve made millions from parking fines etc, that can’t be spent on anything else apart from parking.”

Tributes were also paid to a former Stirling High teacher and Stirling Albion football coach who died. David Eccles passed away following a tragic bicycle accident.

Bruce Flaws said:“a great teacher and goalkeeper. I remember we pupils played the teachers as we fancied ourselves with many amazing players at Stirling High in 1987-88. He and the rest of the teachers-didn’t hold back and needless to say taught us a valuable lesson that day. A great man RIP.”

Lynda Stewart added:“my first placement mentor as a trainee teacher from Stirling University. So unassuming yet inspirational in his approach. Dave shared his understanding and empathy for young people to ensure that they’re voices were heard. 25 years on, his teaching has never been forgotten. My thoughts are with his family.”

Stuart Mckechnie posted:“sad news, proper legend, one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, thoughts with his family.”
