Public can help PLUS win £1k

-

PLUS (Forth Valley) is appealing to the public to help them win a potential £100,000 after being shortlisted as a finalist for Persimmon Building Futures.

Stirling-based PLUS supports almost 300 children and young people with disabilities and additional support needs across the Forth Valley.

The charity believes disabilities are no barrier to fun and provide access to social, leisure and recreational activities.

Activities and outings include games, craft sessions, baking, movie nights, music, cinema, bowling, shopping, music and using technology.

Many of these activities benefit children who do not have verbal communication skills but who can communicate through the activity. The children grow in confidence. They build relationships, make friends, try new things and can develop an interest or passion in new activities.

PLUS helps children express themselves, reach goals and hopefully become confident young people.

The final round of prizes fall into three categories health; education and arts; and sport. In each category there is a first prize of £100,000, a second prize of £50,000 and a third prize of £20,000. All runner ups will get £5,000.

PLUS are the only charity in the Forth Valley and one of three charities in the health category in Scotland to be shortlisted.

A PLUS spokesperson said:“winning one of these prizes would make such a huge impact. Each person can vote once a day until September 18. PLUS really need everyone they can to vote every day for us. It takes just five seconds.” To vote go to https://www. persimmonhomes.com/ building-futures/finalist/ plus-forth-valley-ltd-5227
