JACK ROUNDS OFF SIGNINGS Binos boss says squad is complete

- DAVID OGILVIE

Stirling Albion boss Kevin Rutkiewicz is happy with the strength of his squad after bringing in six new players this summer.

Former Motherwell and Airdrie midfielder Jack Leitch became the latest recruit on Monday when he put pen to paper after three years at Peterhead.

Rutkiewicz has also brought in strikers Declan Byrne and Andy Ryan, wingers Kieran Moore and Scott Roberts, and midfielder Kurtis Roberts as well as retaining several key players from last season.

He said: “Jack is a player who I’m hoping will be that link from middle to front by getting on the ball and making good runs.

“He is good for a goal and has scored against us in the past. He has been one of Peterhead’s best players in recent years and I’m delighted we managed to get him. “When Andy Ryan became our first signing from Dunfermline, I think expectation went through the roof and fans were maybe expecting several more from Championship clubs but we have to be realistic and I think we have brought in good players without harming the club financially.

“That’s the budget spent for now and we can concentrate on getting the boys together, but I’ll always keep my ear to the ground and if there is a player I think can help us I’ll ask the board the question. It could be we get one more in at some point to beef up a certain area.

“We’ll probably try and play more friendlies than normal because the boys have been five months without a game.

“I don’t want to overload them and we still have to find out things like where we’ll be based for training but there should be plenty teams out there looking for a game.”

Meanwhile, the Binos should shortly discover their Betfred Cup schedule following the group stage draw at Hampden on Monday.

Stirling will face Ross County, Arbroath, Elgin City and Montrose in Group D – they will play two opponents at home and two away on four of the following five matchdays: October 6, 10 & 13, and November 10 & 14. The eight group winners and four best runners-up will be joined in the last 16 of the competition by Celtic, Rangers, Motherwell and Aberdeen.

Stirling Albion have confirmed that season ticket holders will have priority if attendance is limited when the season gets under way in

October.

The club are launching their season tickets for 2020/21 today, with prices for adults £140, seniors & students £90, juveniles aged 1216 paying £35 and U12s free.

The Binos will have 13 home games in the shortened 27game League 2 campaign, kicking off against Queen’s Park on October 17.
