Farmers’ market now running twice a month

-

Stirling Farmers’ Market is back in Port Street for the second time this month this Saturday (August 22) from 10am-4pm.

With the market still smaller than usual due to continued social distancing requirements the organisers have doubled down on markets, running twice monthly to try to fit all the regular traders in.

“It’s taken a lot of work behind the scenes to get the market back up and running,” said market manager Ben Roberts.

“Stirling Council have been great at talking us through the new requirements – especially the licensing team who’ve always been so supportive and made sure our questions got to the right departments.

“The response from shoppers has been great since we restarted too. Our management team hasn’t had to ask anyone to respect distancing measures once – everyone has been fantastic.

“Stirling Farmers’ Market has earned a reputation for offering some of the best food and drink from across Scotland and hopefully between the two markets each month all our regular customers will be able to get hold of all their favourites.”

This week’s market sees local sourdough specialists Riverside Bakery making their first post-lockdown appearance on Port Street with their renowned selection of handmade breads.

Also back for the first time since March will be The Rookery with their unique range of honey meads, Highland Beef from Cedar Cottage Country Foods and artisan soapmakers Soap Matters.

Other Stirling regulars putting in an appearance will include The Little Bakery with their award-winning pies, Arran Cheese, Arbroath Fisheries, Nini’s Pastries, Caledonian Shores and The Woodland Trust.

Stirling Farmers’ Market is held on Port Street, Stirling on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month between 10am and 4pm.
