Council area’s 10 hot spots revealed

Ten parts of the Stirling Council area have been identified as coronaviru­s hot spots.

Bridge of Allan and Stirling University; Broomridge; Causewayhe­ad; Stirling city centre; Cornton; Cowie; Dunblane East; Fallin; Forth; and Plean have all been earmarked as areas where the virus spread rapidly over a seven day period.

Figures published by Public Health Scotland show that between

Tuesday, October 20, and Monday, October 26, there were 77 confirmed Covid-19 cases within the Stirling Council area, which has a population of 94,210. That equates to a seven day rate per 100,000 of the population of 81.7.

In the Stirling area, Bridge of Allan and the university and Cowie were the two areas with the highest number of positive cases over that period, each with eight.

Dunblane East recorded seven confirmed cases, with six in Broomridge, five in Causewayhe­ad and Fallin and between 1-4 in the city centre, Cornton, Forth and Plean. All ten areas have a seven day rate per 100,000 of the population of 100 or more.

Bannockbur­n plus the Kippen and Fintry area both had between 1-4 cases, meaning the seven day rate per 100,000 of population in those areas was between 75 and 99.

Balfron and Drymen; Blane

Valley; Borestone, King’s Park and Torbrex; and Raploch also had between 1-4 positive cases each, meaning the rate was between 50 and 74.

Dunblane West and Hillpark had between 1-4 cases each, giving them a rate of 15-29. In the Wee County, Alva, Sauchie, Tillicoult­ry and Tullibody South were all marked as hotspots. Dollar and Muckhart and Menstrie had no recorded cases.
