- ALASTAIR MCNEILL

Around 200 jobs could be created under plans for a major commercial development near Springkerse Retail Park.

Locally based property company, Ramoyle Developments Ltd, has lodged a Proposal of Application Notice with Stirling Council planners for the Crookbridge site.

The company say they will be undertaking a period of consultation in December to engage with the public and interested parties prior to submitting a formal planning application for the site.

Their plans are for a mixed use commercial development of circa 100,000 sqft on the 10 acre site at the corner of Kerse Road (A905) and the A91 Stirling bypass adjacent to Wickes DIY store.

The site is currently owned by the Stirling Development Agency (SDA), a joint venture company which includes Stirling Council.

SDA has been promoting the sale of the site for various uses including retail, food store, leisure, hotel, car showrooms and petrol filling station.

Ramoyle director Russ Stewart said:“the site is zoned within in the council’s Local Development Plan for retailing and our proposals will comply with this use and those mentioned in the marketing brochure.

“We have strong occupier interest for these uses which will enable us to introduce new operators to Stirling as well as improving premises for existing businesses.

“We estimate our proposals will create up to 200 new jobs generated by an investment of over £10 million.

“We anticipate that the development will take 18 months to build following determination of our planning application. We look forward to investing in Stirling, our local patch, and to delivering a quality development for the benefit of local people.”

Ramoyle Developments is the sister company to Stirling Stone Ltd and both businesses have more than 30 years successful trading throughout the UK.

The PAN application submitted to council planners identifies the area for Class 1 retail, Class 2 professional services, Class 3 food and drink, Class 4 business, Class 5 industrial, Class 7 hotel and Class 11 leisure as well as potentially hot food takeaway, car showroom and a petrol filling station.

In correspondence with the council, agents for the company suggest that, given the Covid-19 pandemic, public engagement will be via a bespoke webpage, online consultation event, and online feedback.

They added:“we want ensure that the public are informed of their plans and welcome the opportunity to take their views into consideration as proposals continue to be developed.”
