Sentence is deferred

-

Sentence on a Bannockburn man who had behaved in a threatening and abusive manner at his mother’s house in the town was this week deferred until next month.

Gary Mcleod had admitted shouting and swearing at the Queen Street house on August 13 last year and threatening self harm.

The 45-year-old also pleaded guilty to a charge, on a separate complaint, of breaching a bail condition, imposed the following day, not to enter the house.

Mcleod had breached the condition by going into the Queen Street house on August 24, 2019.

When the matter called at Stirling Sheriff Court last Wednesday, his agent Ken Dalling told Sheriff William Gilchrist that he had not seen Mcleod that day and there was no report before the court.

Mr Dalling added that Mr Mcleod’s mother had recently died unexpectedly and this had“hit the family somewhat hard”.

When the matter last called in August it was confirmed Mcleod had been of good behaviour, the solicitor added, which was confirmed by the fiscal depute.

Sheriff Gilchrist said:“i won’t issue a warrant [for his arrest] and will give him one further opportunity [to attend]”.

Mr Dalling said as far as he was aware Mcleod was still living at his mother’s house in Queen Street.

Sheriff Gilchrist further deferred sentence on the accused until December 23 for his personal appearance and a criminal justice social work report. Mcleod was ordered to appear on that date.
