Cash to help update maps

-

The sum of £9000 has been awarded to enable the update of the Dunblane Area Green Travel Maps.

Dunblane Development Trust has been given the cash for the project by the‘smarter Choices Smarter Places Open Fund.’

The maps identify the best walking and cycling options around Dunblane and nearby Doune, Bridge of Allan, Stirling, Blairlogie and Braco.

DDT volunteer Bridget Clark said this week:“it is great to secure funds for the maps again.

“New maps should be ready around Easter next year and will be given to local schools. They can also be picked up from public outlets.

“Online maps will be renewed on the Dunblane. info website, along with information on travel, walking, cycling and running.”

Bridget also pointed out that DDT is asking people to fill in a user survey to help with the update of the walking and cycling improvements report to improve routes.

She added:“despite these challenging times, it has been great to see so many people and families exploring the many lovely paths and quiet roads in the area.

“Our local e-bike loan scheme has been fully subscribed and the maps help new cyclists and commuting key workers to find the quieter routes away from busy traffic.”

There are still a few current maps (2016) available from‘weigh Ahead’in Dunblane High Street, Recyke-a-bike in Causewayhead and Doune Information Centre/post Office.

More project information, with the link to the survey, is on Dunblane.info and the Dunblane Development Trust websites.
