Council bin changes have gone too far

-

Dear Editor A few weeks ago I wrote, anonymously, that I was concerned that we the electorate didn’t have a voice when it comes to the punitive charges that the council will soon impose for garden waste removal.

Now I fear I need a further cloak of anonymity as I charge the council of being incompetent.

On November 13 the council started to remove brown wheelie bins from the streets of Dunblane - without warning.

The council failed to send out letters in a timely manner thus leaving folk who had not presented their brown bins to the kerb side in something of a dilemma.

The following week on Monday November 20 the council have removed MY GREY BIN and not replaced it.

The council has provided an informative website (https://www.stirling.gov. uk/bins-waste-recycling/ bin-delivery-date/ ) that advises when bins will be removed.

Their website suggests that my bins will be removed in mid-january 2021.

I witnessed the grey bin being unceremoniously tossed into the back of a caged van.

I have not received a letter from the council advising me that the grey bin was going to be removed. I fully expect to receive that in eight weeks’ time.

I was therefore denied the opportunity to remove stickers from my bin. More worryingly, where do I put my landfill waste whilst I wait for my new grey bin - midjanuary 2021? I hope not.

So why, oh why does the council preside over such folly.

Maybe it would be prudent to delay the roll out of charging for garden waste removal and four weekly pick-up cycles. Delay it until you can be confident you get it right.

I, for one, can’t wait for the opportunity to vote them out of office - 2023 seems such a long way away.

Name and address supplied that he was announced as joining the programme from Edinburgh. In an answer to the first question he stated that we were all in this together with reference to COVID.

I find it very hard to believe that we can be in it together when Alyn lives outside of the constituency and is, therefore, able to enjoy a greater degree of freedom than his constituents.

It is a shame to see that a constituency address was only good enough for last year’s election period. I can only hope he treats the constituency with more respect going forward. Craig Docherty, via email
