STIRLING ARTHRITIS GROUP

The group applied to the Co-op members (Local Community Funding) for funds and were delighted to receive the sum of £2157.87 this month. Thanks to all the Co-op members for making this possible. It is hoped monthly meetings will be up and running sometime next year.

CARSE OF STIRLING ROTARY

The club is continuing to press ahead with plans for Santa’s Sleigh this year. As mentioned last week, there are plans to tour Santa’s Sleigh round the local area on week commencing December 14. This will be done as a treat for local children and members won’t be knocking doors with collecting tins. Although this approach stops the club receiving donations on these runs, everyone’s safety is the main concern. Plans are to station Santa and his sleigh at Tesco Stirling on December 12 and 19 and Morrisons Stirling on December 13 and 20 where they will be appropriately distanced with collecting buckets available. Also of note is that Santa will be fitted with an online sleigh tracker this yearand a Gofundme account has been set up for any online donations for him. For more information on any of this and the latest updates on Santa’s Sleigh, please have a look at the Facebook page. Anyone who would like more information on becoming a Rotarian can get in touch through social media channels by searching for @carserotary.

INNER WHEEL OF STIRLING

The use of Comfort Stones was first thought of as a way of family or friends conveying a loving message to Covid patients at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, but it has grown so popular that they are now being used in all wards, as well as the local community hospitals in Stirling, Falkirk and Bo’ness. The stones are painted by volunteers and varnished, then sanitised further at the hospital before a message is written on the back by hospital staff. A wonderful idea, which is turning into a long-term project, as well as a worthwhile pastime in these strange times. Monthly meetings are currently being held successfully on Zoom. Members very much look forward to welcoming current and new members to monthly meetings and delicious food at Henderson’s Bistro when normality returns.
