Wildlife centre looks for help
An appeal has been launched for supplies at a Hillfoots animal rescue centre.
The Scottish SPCA is appealing to animal lovers to donate supplies to its National Wildlife Rescue Centre at Fishcross to help build enrichment areas.
Scotland’s animal welfare charity would like to provide mental and physical stimulation for the wildlife in its care to encourage their natural behaviours which will aid their rehabilitation.
A full list of what the centre in Clackmannanshire is in need of can be found on its Amazon wishlist. However, items do not need to be purchased directly from Amazon. If preferred, donations can be purchased from another online site and delivered to the centre or dropped off in donation bins outside
Centre assistant manager, Kim Mackrell, said, “We care for a wide range of wild animals from seals, to badgers, to baby hedgehogs!
“Our purpose is always to rehabilitate and release these animals back into their natural habitat once they are ready. One of the best ways we can prepare them for returning to the wild is by providing enrichment which encourages their natural behaviours and instincts.
“These also let us know how the animal will cope in the wild and whether they are ready to be released.
“We are asking for your help in providing stimulation for Scotland’s wildlife.
“We are in need of supplies such as rope and paint. We are also appealing for donations of real Christmas trees, which would also provide amazing enrichment and stimulation.
“We are so grateful for any support so that we can continue to provide the best possible care for the animals at our centre.”
