STIRLING HIGH CHRISTMAS CONCERT

This week saw the school’s first virtual Christmas Concert streaming live from the Creative Industries website. Headteacher Paul Cassidy gave the opening address before leading into the first Carol for All: “Once in Royal David’s City” with visuals taken on location at the Church of the Holy Rude where the Christmas concert would usually be held. Next was an arrangement played by Holly Bisset, Aaron Hogg and Joel Rushton on the pipes and drums, filmed outside the school followed by a violin duet by Mary and Rosie Peck playing “Silent Night.” Pianist Finlay Muir played a beautiful rendition of “Holiday in Paris” by William Gillock, also filmed on location at the

Church of the Holy Rude. Following this was the Senior Chamber Choir singing “The Message of the Holly.”

Next, the flute group showed off their skills by playing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” arranged into parts by the group’s leader Mollie Macgregor. Another pianist David Beechey followed with the classic “Clair de Lune” by Claude Debussy. Delivering a bit of positive energy were Hamish Hamilton-smith and Adam Sparks playing “Loch Leven Castle” and “Jig Runrig” set as a violin and guitar duet.

The last pupil performance of the evening was SHS Virtual Choir singing an arrangement of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” with guest appearances from teachers from all over the school. The final carol to round off the evening was “O

Come All Ye Faithful.” The closing address was given by Harry Fowler, Principal Teacher, Creative Faculty.

Special thanks to the production team of Jamie Burke, Mollie Macgregor, David Beechey and Finlay Muir. You can watch the Christmas concert online at https:// youtu.be/ptjnldbkc_whttps://youtu. be/ptjnldbkc_whtw.
