Sam’s cracker of a Christmas thank you

A kind-hearted Dunblane High pupil has thanked teachers and staff for their work throughout the coronaviru­s pandemic by raising cash to buy them Christmas treats.

S3 pupil Sam Chambers raised £310 through an online fundraiser to show his appreciati­on for the school’s staff.

The generous youngster purchased 22 £10‘All in one’vouchers which will be raffled to teachers and staff and tins of chocolates for every department, office administra­tion department and senior management team.

Tesco in Stirling donated tins of chocolates, Santa hats and antibacter­ial hand wash to the school and Morrisons in Stirling donated tins of sweets.

Support for vulnerable residents over the festive period has been welcomed in neighbouri­ng Bridge of Allan and Dunlane.

Community organisati­ons l will be leading the way in supports residents in the towns over Christmas.

The Larder will open in Bridge of Allan Parish Church on Tuesday, December 29, from 11am to 12.30pm while Tea’s Company, who are delivering gifts in Bridge of Allan, have extended a happy Christmas and a safe new year to all who have attended the cafe and will be open as soon as they can in the new year.

Dementia Friendly Dunblane have supported many folk through the provision of meals and are working with Choices in Dunblane to deliver meals on Christmas Eve.

Bridge of Allan Cares – a group of volunteers in the town – wants to ensure no elderly or lonely person spends Christmas Day without seeing anyone after new Covid restrictio­ns announced over the weekend means many families will now be apart and is encouragin­g neighbours to pop round to say a socially distanced hello to elderly residents in their streets.

Volunteers are being asked to ensure they wear a mask and maintain social distancing guidelines and stay two metres away in the garden.

Dunblane Community Support says Christmas plans are likely to have changed and they have a large group of volunteers who are ready, willing and able to help out for anyone who is in need this Christmas.
