Speechless at Postcode Lottery prize
A Fallin granny-to-be was ‘lost for words’ at discovering she’d won £30,000.
Catherine Laurie scooped the prize when FK7 7HG was announced as a winner with People’s Postcode Lottery last Sunday, January 10.
The 51-year-old, who works as a secretary at an electrical engineering firm, found out how much she’d won during a video call with
People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie Mccourt.
The win has come at an exciting time for Catherine, with her first grandchild on the way.
She said: “My daughter Siobhan has a baby due in May and I didn’t think anything better could happen after finding out I was going to be a granny so this is just the cherry on top.”
Catherine said she has her husband Thomas to thank as he encouraged her to sign up and play.
Asked how she’d spend the windfall, Catherine said: “With the baby on the way, some of it’ll go that way.
“I’d love a new kitchen and hopefully we can get away on holiday at the end of the year, probably to Tenerife. I love Tenerife!

Everyday throughout the January draws one postcode will be announced as a £30,000 prize winner. All the players in the postcode will win £30,000 for every ticket they hold.
A minimum of 32% of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise over £600 million to date for thousands of good causes across Britain and internationally.
Stirling Carers Centre is one good cause close to Catherine that’s been supported thanks to players.
Last year it received £10,000 to support unpaid carers across Stirlingshire.
