Dear Editor

I am compelled again to write regarding the blatant disregard for the electorate, environment and environmental promises made by Stirling Council.

I have never been so disappointed in the councillors as I am now for their recent blatant and dare I say arrogant disregard for the democratic process as they have been recently. Their behaviour would indeed make Donald Trump blush.

They ignored a petition from us regarding bins, they have decided despite overwhelming public objection to commence a vanity project that is un-needed, unwanted and is of very dubious value while they are doing the equivalent of looking down the sofa for small change to afford it by cutting services, looking for eight million savings to spend an additional three.

Like many we are all a bit short just now, you need to cut the cloth to the measure and the monies saved by cancelling the road could be better used.

There was a so-called consultation but as far as I am aware no-one from the Braehead area had a door knocked. I am led to believe the community council was not asked to assist in seeking opinion; instead, I believe the consultation was held in the old arcade through the week.

How would that reflect the opinion of us that are to suffer increased noise and emissions? The routes round the city centre are not overly congested, it’s the roads in and out that need looking at.

Why as I asked in a letter to your paper last year are we not taking the greener initiative and making the former Viewforth and Linden Avenue car parks charging hubs served by small electric city buses? This would be truly in the spirit of the proclaimed climate emergency - such facilities are now being built everywhere and are going to be of increasing need and value to communities as our use of fossil fuel diminishes.
