Dear Editor

I would like to express gratitude on behalf of Rotary Club of Carse of Stirling in relation to our recent Santa’s Sleigh. Thanks are due to a number of people and organisations who helped us raise a fantastic total of more than £4000. These funds will be used to help local children by supporting our annual Kids Out Day at Bridgehaugh in June 2021, all being well.

Firstly, thanks must go to the people of Stirling and Bannockburn for their generous donations and for turning out to see Santa throughout the local area. Having said that, the jolly chap in red wouldn’t have been able to get around were it not for Kilgannon Motors, who very kindly provided the Sleigh’s tow vehicle. Local supermarkets Tesco and Morrisons graciously allowed us to collect outside their premises, and this had a significant effect on our total.

In the circumstances of the pandemic we had to take a different approach to this year’s Sleigh.

Thank you for respecting social distancing requirements and hope that we brought some joy and cheer to the communities we visited in what was a difficult 2020. We are sorry that we were not able to visit all of our usual areas, and look forward to Christmas 2021 when, all being well, we will be able to return to normal.

I would also like to highlight the contribution made by volunteers who made the sleigh runs possible. A number of Rotarians, their friends and families gave up their valuable time. At the helm and co-ordinating everything was Rotarian Alistair Plank, who did an excellent job, with meticulous planning to ensure that everyone involved stayed safe.

Once again, my sincere gratitude to the people of Stirling and Bannockburn.

Gordon Brewster

President
