Orchard and new pontoon part of Riverside trail map

-

Updated leaflets have been put together on Stirling’s Riverside Heritagetrail.

The trail takes in Cambuskenneth, the community orchard and Stirling Rowing Club as well as the £270,000 pontoon on the Forth installed in 2018 as part of the development of Riverside’s Old Harbour Park.

Fiona Berrow of Riverside Community Council said:“there were not many of original leaflets left about the Riverside trail, so as part of a community group working on ideas for development of the new pontoon in Riverside, we decided to try to get some more printed, ideally with updates such as putting the pontoon on the map.

“I approached Stirling Council and they put me in touch with‘art is an Option’, who put together the original leaflet.

“I worked with them to update the map and text with suggestions from

Riverside Community Council and local residents and got more leaflets printed.

“The distribution of the leaflets has been put on hold slightly due to Covid-19 restrictions but soon we hope to have leaflets available for people to pick up in local shops, tourist information centres, libraries and at the pontoon.”

The Riverside Heritage Trail, created in 2013, is one of seven similar such trails around Stirling.

The others are Bannockburn, Braehead and Broomridge, Borestone, Cambusbarron, Cambuskenneth and St Ninians.

The new Riverside leaflet also includes information on the port of Stirling, industry, the coming of the railway, Homes for Heroes, Cambuskenneth Abbey, Royal Army Ordnance Corps and Stirling Rowing Club.
