Builder wants four homes on farmhouse site

-

New life-saving equipment has been installed at sites in Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. As part of a project to improve water safety on the loch, new signs and throw lines have been installed at Rowardennan and Firkin Point to help keep people safe.

The new installations display emergency services information, the location name, OS grid reference and a‘what3words’description to help pinpoint where you are in case of emergency.

Plans to build new homes in Thornhill have been lodged with Stirling Council planners.

Martyn Steedman wants to build three houses on land between the village primary school and 19 Low Town by replacing an existing agricultural shed and farm buildings within an existing farmyard.

Farm operations would be relocated to another area a short distance away which already has agricultural buildings and a farmyard.

In documents submitted with the application, agents said:“the existing farmhouse site has already diversified with holiday accommodation in the forms of caravans and timber huts on site.

“The relocation of the farm operations will allow the client to expand their holiday business within this site with the removal of the existing buildings and agricultural sheds offering an opportunity to diversify further with a three house development.

“On an environmental level , the relocation of the farmhouse and operations would be beneficial to neighbouring properties, the adjacent primary school and the village of Thornhill as a whole.

“It will also enhance the wellbeing of livestock and neighbouring humans over the winter periods with livestock being kept in a rural location rather than a location positioned within the village.”

The proposed houses are fourbedroom one-and-ahalf storey family homes with open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area and a ground-floor study or extra bedroom.

The proposed access would be directly off Low Town to the front of each house, which would all have their own large garage.

Council planners are expected to make a recommendation on the application in due course.
