Planners face decision on village houses

-

Four new houses could be built in Gargunnock.

Harrietthompson has submitted an application to Stirling Council planners to develop land next to and south of Kirk Lane House in the village.

Documents submitted with the application described the homes as “ecological and individually designed” one and a half storey hosues.

The added:“the site is located adjacent to the existing group/ cluster of buildings, six of which are houses (this includes the two recently completed semi-detached dwellings).

“The new homes will take the cluster to 10 houses in total.

“The development is capable of being viewed as an obvious and identifiable group with no building being more than 100 metres from the next. The site layout is designed to respect the character and building pattern of the existing by locating the houses around a‘courtyard’ facing onto Kirk Lane.

“They create a semi-enclosed space (with visitor parking) in much the same way as the existing steading is positioned to the lane. There are now no longer any agricultural buildings on the east side as they are located to the west and separated by a road.

“All houses are appropriately sized within their curtilage with parking taken away from the frontage. There is ample ability to screen private utility areas from any public face of the road.”

Council planners are expected to make a recommendation on the application in due course.
