Hill view part of Fintry house plan

-

A new house could be built in Fintry.

Ellen Ross has submitted an application to Stirling Council planners to build the home and garage plus studio accommodation on land adjacent and west of Croftinstilly Gardens.

The site is currently grazing land owned by a local farmer.

Mrs Ross wants to build a single storey house with a detached garage orientated to enjoy the afternoon and evening sun and catch the views of the hills north and south.

In documents submitted with the application, her agents said: “She wants the house to be contemporary, with open-plan living space and have a minimum of two bedrooms plus guest accommodation for occasional family visits.”

They said the plot was different from a previously approved site because Mrs Ross wanted the house to be positioned away from the B822 Crow Road with privacy created to the rear of the property.

They added: “The [previous application] was for an infill site. Whilst the plot has been extended to the south, it follows the line of the rear garden of 1, Croftinstilly. It is therefore still considered to be an infill development between the two properties. A courtyard will be created by positioning the garage and the house with ridges perpendicular to each other. The courtyard will help the development to infill between the houses on either side.

“Access to the grazing field has been retained. Whilst there is adequate space to the west of the development site for a future infill application, the applicant has no control of this land or knowledge of any current proposal.

“The majority of the living accommodation has been positioned to the rear of the property to benefit from the afternoon and evening sun, with the kitchen/dining area being dual aspect to benefit from the views to both the north and south.”

Council planners are expected to make a recommendation on the application in due course.
