Driest week for months

-

Last week was our driest week in Stirling for nine months, writes SCOTT MCLEAN.

With only 0.25mm of weekly rainfall, which fell last Thursday, we have not had such a dry spell since the last seven days of May 2020, when no rain fell that week.

The dry weather was a result of high pressure which brought settled conditions to the area with a maximum temperature recorded of 11.3 Centigrade and a low of -0.6C.

Wind speeds reached 19mph on Thursday, March 4.

After last week’s dry conditions, rain will return in the week ahead in what will mostly be an unsettled week. Wet weather is expected on most days and while the majority of it will be showers longer spells of rain could develop from midweek onwards.

There will be some sunny intervals at times but rain will always pose a threat. Windy conditions will also develop midweek and last until the end of the week with gusts around 40mph.

The mixture of sunshine and showers will continue over the weekend. The temperature will remain above freezing all week with lows of 2C and a high of 10C.
