Fine scoring at Bridge of Allan in Stableford event

The winter golf season continued at Bridge of Allan last weekend and in Friday’s Gents Senior Nine Hole Stableford, Hugh Dent carried on the previous week’s fine form winning with an excellent 21 point score.

In second place was the steady Gordon Darlington with 17 points, and third place was taken by Keith Pyper on 16 points.

Saturday saw some incredible scoring and indeed in the 18 hole Stableford format you had to be in the 40s to be in with a shout for a prize.

Winner on the day was club president Martin Baird who returned a mind blowing 49 points that equated to a net 52. In second place with 43 points was Alistair Smillie, however Alistair had the consolatio­n of scoring the only two of the day. Hugh Dent was third with 41 points.

Gordon Darlington continues to lead the way in the Senior Gents Order of Merit, and Hugh Dent now leads the McCallum Rosebowl Order of Merit with only two rounds to go.

Opening day of the 2021 season is Saturday, March 27.

For all general play scores, please be considerat­e to other golfers. Once you reach your nett double bogey score, lift your ball and proceed to the next hole. This will avoid the issue of needless slow play, ensuring that all members are afforded the opportunit­y to complete their round in a timely manner.

Winter Maintenanc­e: Players are reminded not to climb over or under the roped off areas around tees and also keep trolleys off the green aprons and approaches and follow the white directiona­l arrows to next tee or exit.

Pitch Marks: Players are reminded to have a proper pitch mark repairer in their pocket before they walk on to the first tee.

Please repair at least your own or one /two others if you cannot locate your own. It takes three weeks for a green to recover from pitch marks not repaired properly.
