Wintry spells follow glorious spring week

-

The changeable weekly weather in March continued last week when we enjoyed a glorious spring week, writes Observer weather editor Scott Mclean.

After a virtually dry first week of the month, which was then followed by our wettest week in 13 months, our last reporting week had no recorded rainfall at all and the last time we had a dry week was at the end of May 2020.

As high pressure dominated, the skies were less cloudy than forecast which allowed good sunny intervals to develop which in turn increased the temperature which resulted in a very pleasant high recorded of 18.9 Centigrade, which was our warmest temperature in Stirling since September 18 last year.

After last week’s dry conditions there will be more wet weather over the coming days with rain at times midweek and the risk of showers will remain for the rest of the week as well as over the weekend.

Some of the showers later in the week and at the weekend may turn wintry especially over the hills. There will be some sunny intervals but the risk of showers will not be far away. Maximum temperatures will be around 9 to 11 Centigrade with overnight lows expected to remain just above freezing. It will be breezy with wind gusts at times reaching 35mph.

DidYou Know – A reminder that British Summer Time begins this Sunday, which means by the end of the weekend sunset will be close to 8pm but sunrise will be later, increasing to just before 7am.
