BINOS AIM TO MIX IT UP

- DAVID OGILVIE

Stirling Albion make the short trip to Falkirk to take on unbeaten League Two leaders Queen’s Park tomorrow as they look to close the gap on Ray McKinnon’s men to four points.

The match is being played at the Falkirk Stadium following the Spiders’ departure from Hampden Park last month. Queen’s Park had been hoping to move into a renovated Lesser Hampden by this stage but reconstruction work fell behind due to the pandemic.

The Binos earned a 0-0 draw against the title favourites at Forthbank on the opening day of the season but McKinnon’s men are now seven points clear of the chasing pack and were 3-0 winners against Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill on Tuesday. Stirling defeated Stenhousemuir 1-0 at Forthbank in midweek thanks to Jack Leitch’s fourth goal of the season and have picked up seven points from nine since LeagueTwo resumed.

It’s a match which pits together the two best defences in the division and Albion will go into it in confident mood after an all the teams around us picked up points as well.”

On-loan Darvel defender Meggatt was rock solid at the back and the ex-Alloa centre-half was delighted to help secure a derby victory.

He said: “There was a wee bit of disappointment after the 1-1 draw at Elgin last Saturday and it’s really important to win your home games. I’ve not played a lot of football recently and I was a bit leggy at the end but I’m experienced enough to get through the game.

“It’s a massive game against Queen’s Park now. They are up at the top for a reason but we will go there with confidence and try to pick up another three points.”
