Podiatrist plan for new salon

- KAIYA MARJORIBANKS

A local is hoping to ensure residents in Strathyre get the top to toe treatment in future.

Lesley Whearty has applied to Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park planners seeking a change of use for an ancillary building at Corriegowrie on the village’s Main Street.

Permission had already been given to open a hairdressing salon in the previously unused outbuilding.

However, in documents submitted with her application, Mrs Whearty outlined her hopes that it could be put to additional use.

She said:“The salon (despite Covid) has proven to be a great success with clients from our village and the surrounding villages utilising its services.

“I have been approach by a podiatrist who lives within Strathyre to see if he could utilise the space for clients when not in use as a hairdressers.

“My understanding is that this would require an adjustment to the original planning consent. I am therefore applying to see if the permission could be adjusted to allow other one-to-one services being included - though non specific (this could be podiatry, physio, beauty).

“There is a possibility that in the future our store room could be cleared out and both the hairdresser and podiatrist could be in on same day, each with their own treatment room. This will only increase clients to two at a time.

“I feel this would be an excellent addition to the services Strathyre can offer and utilises an existing, functional space to its full capacity.”

Park planners are expected to make a recommendation on the application in due course.
