Grant of £165k brings ‘peace of mind’ to CAB

Stirling District Citizens Advice Bureau has received a boost of almost £165,000.

The grant award of £164,410 over five years from Bank of Scotland Foundation’s multi-year Invest programme will cover the salary cost of a new debt advice worker and create a specialist‘Redundancy Support Unit’to help those who have lost their employment or income from the financial crisis created by Covid 19.

They are one of 11 Scottish charities to share £1,446,155 over a period of three to five years.

Due to the significan­t financial impact that Covid-19 has had on people across Scotland, the theme of this year’s programme was financial vulnerabil­ity, supporting charities who help vulnerable people manage various financial issues.

The CAB’s grant will support a up to 400 people each year, providing free specialist debt advice to financial casualties of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Clients will also be provided with an opportunit­y to re-skill to enable the move into sustainabl­e new employment.

“As many people in this area are reliant on the tourism industry, we have seen an increase in demand for our services, especially relating to debt management.

“The grant has brought great peace of mind and enables us to plan for the future.”
