Sweet treats help gather vital funds
A sweet gesture from fundraisers has already gathered in more than £8000 for Strathcarron Hospice.
Family-run business Mrs Tilly’s has set a goal to pay for a day at Strathcarron, raising £14,315 through the sale of their tablet and fudge in the hospice’s shops.
The firm are donating the bars for sale in the shops at £1 each with every pound going into patient care.
Elisabeth Paterson, founder of Mrs Tilly’s, met with Fiona Hannah from Strathcarron at the hospice’s Bridge of Allan Vintage Shop on Monday.
Elisabeth said: “The shop looks amazing. I’d just like to say that having supported Strathcarron over previous years we fully appreciate the resources required to support such a worthy cause.
“Mrs Tilly’s feels privileged to be able to continue that support by supplying our fudge and tablet to Strathcarron’s retail outlets free of charge. This is an ideal opportunity to raise much- needed funds.”
Strathcarron spokesperson Claire Kennedy added: “We are so grateful to Mrs Tilly’s for supporting our work and setting this incredible goal of paying for a day at the hospice.
“Our retail shops are delighted to offer our customers the opportunity to pick up a sweet treat whilst they are in store as well as supporters choosing to buy the fudge and tablet to gift to wedding guests as favours and similar, with every penny going into patient care right here in Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth.”
Tilly Confectionery Ltd (Mrs Tilly’s) began in Tillicoultry in the late 1990s and is owned and run by two generations of the Paterson family.
Its products can be found in independent retailers and local shops as well as supermarket chains and in markets around the world.
