RUSKIE RUSKIE SWI

Anne Artis warmly welcomed our members and friends to the first meeting of the new syllabus. There were a number of apologies as members are getting busier as lockdown eases which is reassuring. We are meeting on Zoom for the first three months and then in a single group from December onwards. Anne reminded the group that over the summer we got together as Ruskie Rural for our trip to Mull which included lots of food and mostly good weather. We also were invited to steward at two Wild Fox Events - The Quadrathlon and the Glencoe Marathon. The results of the Tattie Competition were announced for both members and guests: Members highest total number, Sharon McRobert (39); heaviest total weight, Christine Bauer (4989g); heaviest single potato, Christine Bauer (453g); longest single potato, Mary Muirhead (15cm). Non member special mention - heaviest and longest single potato, Jean Deans (539g / 17cm). Anne then invited the group to share their scavenger hunt items. We were invited to share something that had our name on it, something rural related and something that no one else would have. All three categories produced some much loved items all with stories to tell. It was interesting to hear the minutes from 1926 when it was discussed about setting up an institute at Ruskie, 40/50 ladies attended. The rest is history. Anne closed the meeting thanking everyone for sharing their items and memories and invited everyone to the October meeting. For a full report and pictures on the meeting visit our web page: www. ruskierural.com or our Facebook page

It is hoped that this return to our regular time of 10am, and in the church, will be the pattern for the future. The text of the service is also available by email from the minister.
