Care home’s open day to attract new staff
Staff at a Dunblane home for adults with severe and enduring mental illness is hoping an open day will help to recruit more health workers, amid a national shortage.
Management at Ranaich House say they have maintained care and safety levels for residents despite challenging circumstances.
But they want to bolster their team to ensure they can continue to have the right type of individuals for the roles.
Staff will be talking about how local jobseekers can make a positive difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities and complex needs, including those with mental health or physical needs, at Ranaich.
The 14-bed specialist service based in Leewood Road is recruiting support workers to join their team.
Hospital manager at Ranaich House, Eileen Glover, said: “Locally we have had to deal with a shortage of support workers which has also been reflected nationally.
“While we do have enough staff to deliver safe care, increased demand for specialist services like ours means it is crucial to recruit talented and compassionate individuals to help reduce the current pressure on the sector.
“Previous experience is not essential, but it is important that applicants have a passion for delivering outstanding care and helping others.
“Many of our most dedicated staff members started out as support workers and they will be on hand to share their experiences at the open day for people interested in a career in care.”
Recruitment in the care sector has never been more important, with the number of vacancies said to be rising above 120,000 nationwide.
Ranaich House provides services tailored to individual needs, promoting independence and community integration. It is a large period detached property, formerly a private Victorian villa with coach house, stables and spacious gardens.
The open day will take place at Ranaich House, Leewood Road, Dunblane, FK15 0DR, on Thursday, October 7, from 10am to 4pm.
