ALVA COMMUNITY COUNCIL

The community council is adhering to the current pandemic restrictio­ns, so meetings, until further notice, will be held online using Zoom. Meetings will start around 7.30pm. Sunday services continue in the church hall at 10.30am (remember your mask). The Murrayfiel­d Phone Link continues this week, and there is a gentle stroll round Ladywell Park on Friday. Meet at the car park entrance to the park at 20pm.. BANNOCKBUR­N HOUSE

House tours are held on Sundays in September. Tickets £5.98, available on Eventbrite. Bannockbur­n House Trust are still looking for residents to be involved in this community project, as volunteers and members. This week’s Joker prize was won by Linda McKenzie. Closing day was Saturday, September 18 and, in good weather, a mixed fun contest was held, incorporat­ing two sections of players. Section 1 winners were Bob McKean, Jean Fisher and Steve Ingram. Section 2 winners were June Williamson and Jimmy McKenzie. On Wednesday, September 29 at 6.30pm, carpet bowls will resume. All members are welcome. The bar will be open. It is also intended to restart the gents Monday evening dominoes sessions more details later.

CCDT in partnershi­p with the Bruce Memorial Church propose to organise ‘Heartstart’ classes in the community centre over the winter months. The training which will be provided by Trossachs Search and Rescue Team is designed to give attendees simple skills to Save A Life. It is not a fully comprehens­ive First Aid Course. Topics covered are serious bleeding, choking; recovery position; heart attack; cardiac arrest and how to use an Automated External Defibrilla­tor (AED) such as the one installed at the community centre. Classes usually last two hours and are interactiv­e with attendees having plenty of time to practise skills. There is no charge as such but each participan­t will be asked to give a donation towards the work of Trossachs SAR. PARK CHURCH

Harvest Festival Service on Sunday, September 26 at 11am will be led by Rev Alison Jack. Envelopes for donations to Christian Aid will be available at the entrance door. An audio recording of the service will be available later on the website or as a CD upon request to the church office. The church is able to welcome 200 persons (including children) and there is plenty of space for visitors. The congregati­on is allowed to sing but still have to keep their masks on. Activities for children are provided and a crèche will be available. The government still require us to ask for your contact details for Track and Trace. Coffee Club re-opens tomorrow (Thursday) from 10-11.30am in the Main Hall. Friends new and old of any age are invited to come for a cuppa and chat. The “Sparks” Pre-School Play group will meet for the first time on Friday, September 24 at 9.30am in the Main Hall. The group will enjoy stories, music, play and a snack. MENSTRIE UNITED FREE CHURCH

The Sunday service will be at 10am and will be conducted by Mr Josh McCurry of Mosspark Baptist Church. RIVERSIDE BOWLING CLUB

The club held its Closing Day on Saturday, September 18. Thanks to all who attended and either played or spectated. After play all enjoyed tea, coffee and sandwiches. The president thanked all his committee and players during the season and the match secretary presented the trophies to all the winners for the internal competitio­ns. The next committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 12 and the Christmas Quiz and Kaoroke will be held in the new refurbishe­d clubhouse on Saturday, December 4.
