Sewer upgrade set to cause delays

-

Diversions will be in place in Dunblane in the coming weeks as Scottish Water upgrades sewers in a £3million bid to tackle flooding.

The project will replace and upgrade parts ot the sewer network along Claredon Place, Springfield Terrace, George Street and through the field behind Hillside Avenue to provide additional capacity to the sewer network.

Houses in Clarendon Place had been susceptible to internal flooding in recent years and Scottish Water carried out an investigation.

The authority identified that the surface water sewer required an upgrade.

Work is already underway at the Air Cadet/Bowling Club and to create a crossover point on the B8033 Stirling Road.

Work also began on Monday at the B8033 Stirling Road roundabout and road users are being asked to follow a signed diversion which will be in place for approximately six weeks.

Further traffic management will be in place as the project progresses.

Clackmannanshire and Dunblane MSP Keith Brown MSP said this week:“This scheme is designed to address flooding issues in Dunblane which have been the subject of correspondence between myself and Scottish Water on behalf of constituents, so I am pleased to see action being taken which will hopefully resolve the situation.

“Obviously, work of this nature will require some disruption, particularly to road traffic, before it can be completed, and I know that my constituents will understand the need for that and will accept the inconvenience with patience as these important works are undertaken.”

Scottish Water corporate affairs manager (west) Georgina Reid said earlier this month:“We take sewer flooding very seriously as we recognise the distress and disruption it can cause to communities across

Scotland.

“We are pleased that a solution to the historic flooding issue is now underway.

“We appreciate these works may cause some disruption in the local community and we’d like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding while this vital work is being carried out.”

Traffic management has been agreed in liaison with Stirling Council and efforts will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.
