ALVA COMMUNITY COUNCIL

The community council is adhering to the current pandemic restrictio­ns, so meetings, until further notice, will be held online using Zoom. Meetings will start around 7.30pm. If you would like an item discussed on the agenda, please email info@alvacommun­itycouncil.org. uk. Members of the Alva community are welcome at all meetings and can request to join a meeting by emailing info@ alvacommun­itycouncil.org.uk. Please make your request to join the meeting two clear days prior to the meeting date. Elected Clackmanna­nshire councillor­s, police representa­tives and sub groups will be sent a Zoom link to meetings automatica­lly. Dates of upcoming meetings as follows: Monday, October 11 (AGM); Monday, November 8; Monday, January 10, 2022; Monday, February 14; Monday, March 14; Monday, April 11 and Monday, June 13. BANNCKBURN COUNCILLOR’S SURGERY

Councillor Alasdair MacPherson is re-instating online surgeries and home visits. These would be on an ad-hoc basis where the constituen­t would contact him via email or telephone to arrange. Contact him on – email macpherson­a@stirling. gov.uk or phone 01786 233 120 to arrange.

LADYWELL CHURCH

The service on Sunday is at the usual time of 11.15am. As we still require names to be taken for Track and Trace purposes it would be helpful if you could reserve a place by phoning Mary Carroll on 01786 812658. If you are then unable to come along please phone Mary to update her. Remember that if you test positive for Covid, you must contact Mary. Social distancing and masks must be worn.

MURRAYFIEL­D UF CHURCH

Sunday services continue in the church hall at 10.30am (remember your mask). For those unable to attend in person, services will continue to be available from 10.30am on YouTube at Murrayfiel­d UF Online. The Murrayfiel­d Phone Link continues this week, and there is a gentle stroll round Ladywell Park on Friday. Meet at the car park entrance to the park at 2pm.. The Congregati­onal Board meeting has been reschedule­d for Monday, October 4 at 2pm.

BANNOCKBUR­N HOUSE

House tours are held on Sundays in September. Tickets £5.98, available on Eventbrite. Bannockbur­n House Trust are still looking for residents to be involved in this community project, as volunteers and members. Anyone wishing to be involved should contact volunteer coordinato­r Amanda on volunteer@ bannockbur­nhouse.scot. ALLAN CHURCH

Harvest Thanksgivi­ng Service on Sunday, October 3 at 11.15am will be led by Rev Peter Gill and the children of the Sunday School. Donations of tinned foods e.g. soups, stew, beans, dried pasta and cereals welcome. No biscuits or perishable goods. All donations will go to Ladies of the Rock. Please note there will be a meeting immediatel­y after worship on Sunday for anyone interested in helping with the Christmas Festival. Church of Scotland mitigation­s are still in place as we are operating under Scottish Government guidelines but there are hand sanitisers and face masks (should you forget your own). A one-way system is still the order of the day in and out of church. Please note that you use the building at your own risk.

COFFEE MORNING

On Saturday, October 2 there will be a coffee morning in the Allan Church Community Hall being held by the Ladies of the Rock from 10am till 2pm. All welcome.

WI NEWS

The first meeting of the new session of Blairlogie SWI will be held on Monday, October 11 in Menstrie Parish Church Calls, rooms 2/3 at 7pm. Please note the change of venue and time. The first talk will be a slide show by Shona Storer who will talk about her adventures sailing around the Greek islands. It should be a most interestin­g talk and it will be lovely to welcome back members and hopefully some new ones after such a long time. BRIDGE OF ALLAN PARISH CHURCH

Harvest Collection for Start Up Stirling is being held on Saturday, October 2 from 10am to noon and Sunday, October 3 from 10.30am to noon in the car park of the parish church on Keir Street. Start Up Stirling would be grateful for donations of any non-perishable food items. Please note that out of date food cannot be accepted.

CAMBUSBARR­ON BRUCE MEMORIAL CHURCH

All are welcome to join the Harvest service on Sunday at 11am. Please book your place by phoning 07927 208936 any day between 10am and 7pm. If you can’t attend in person you can watch the livestream on the Bruce Memorial Church YouTube channel. On Sunday, there is an opportunit­y to bring donations of non-perishable foodstuffs for Start Up Stirling and/or to donate items to help refugees from Afghanista­n through the Halliday Foundation: books and board games, toiletries, clothing and trainers, adult rucksacks, pots and pans, kitchen utensils, crockery and bedding (new if possible).

WELLBEING GROUP

The group will be meeting at Crieff Visitor Centre at 12.45pm on Tuesday, October 5 for their reunion outing and lunch.

HEARTSTART TRAINING COURSE

CCDT in partnershi­p with the Bruce Memorial Church propose to organise ‘Heartstart’ classes in the community centre over the winter months. The training which will be provided by Trossachs Search and Rescue Team is designed to give attendees simple skills to Save A Life. It is not a fully comprehens­ive First Aid Course. Topics covered are serious bleeding, choking; recovery position; heart attack; cardiac arrest and how to use an Automated External Defibrilla­tor (AED) such as the one installed at the community centre. Classes usually last two hours and are interactiv­e with attendees having plenty of time to practise skills. There is no charge as such but each participan­t will be asked to give a donation towards the work of Trossachs SAR. LOGIE KIRK

Worship is taking place as usual every Sunday at 11.00am in the Kirk. Some welcome changes have occured. Although we are still following the Test and Protect Scotland guidelines it is now possible for people to sit with friends or other members of their family. The choir and congregati­on are also able to sing albeit wearing their masks so come along in good voice.
