Award for Forth Valley’s mentoring programme

-

Time4Me, Forth Valley College’s innovative mentoring programme, has been recognised nationally by the Scottish Mentoring Network.

An extensive application – which took a full year to produce – was submitted recently and accepted to receive the SMN Project Quality Award.

SMN chief executive Maureen Watson said:“We were impressed by the application and all of the information it contained.

“Achieving the Quality Award demonstrates the high standards at which the project is currently operating. Congratulations are due to all involved.”

Sarah Tervit, FVC’s mentor coordinator, said:“Time4Me was developed and implemented in line with the Scottish Mentoring Network Good Practice Guidelines from the very beginning; guidelines upon which this quality mark is founded. Time4Me prides itself on matching purpose with performance, providing committed, highly-skilled mentors and placing the needs of the young people at the core of everything we do.

“All those involved in Time4Me over the past four years deserve the credit and recognition this achievement brings with it, and my thanks go to all of them. Thanks also to the SMN team for their expert support and guidance, not only through this application process, but throughout the whole lifecycle of Time4Me.”

Time4Me supports students aged between15-26 year olds who may be care experienced, young carers or reside in regeneration areas.

Mentors help the mentees with goal setting, problem solving and communication skills and the young people taking part will gain confidence and develop skills which will help them with their studies, career and life goals.
