ALVA COMMUNITY COUNCIL

The community council is meeting face to face in October and November and will then review for 2022. The next meeting is the Annual General Meeting for 2021 followed by the monthly ordinary meeting and this will be held on Monday, October 11 in the Cochrane Hall at 7.30pm. All welcome. BANNCKBURN COUNCILLOR’S SURGERY

LADYWELL CHURCH

The service on Sunday is at the usual time of 11.15am. As we still require names to be taken for Track and Trace purposes it would be helpful if you could reserve a place by phoning Anne Renton on 01786 813852. Should you be unable to come along please let Anne know. Remember that if you test positive for Covid you must contact Anne. Masks must be worn and social distancing kept.

ALLAN CHURCH

Service on Sunday, October 10 at 11.15am will be led by Rev Peter Gill. This will be a baptismal service for two families. Church of Scotland mitigation­s are still in place as we are operating under Scottish Government guidelines but there are hand sanitisers and face masks (should you forget your own). A one-way system is still the order of the day in and out of church. Please note that you use the building at your own risk.

MURRAYFIEL­D UF CHURCH

Sunday services continue in the church hall at 10.30am (remember your mask). For those unable to attend in person, services will continue to be available from 10.30am on YouTube at Murrayfiel­d UF Online. The Murrayfiel­d Phone Link continues this week, and there is a gentle stroll round Ladywell Park on Friday. Meet at the car park entrance to the park at 2pm.

WI NEWS

The first meeting of the new session of Blairlogie SWI will be held on Monday, October 11 in Menstrie Parish Church Calls, rooms 2/3 at 7pm. Please note the change of venue and time. The first talk will be a slide show by Shona Storer who will talk about her adventures sailing around the Greek islands. It should be a most interestin­g talk and it will be lovely to welcome back members and hopefully some new ones after such a long time. CAMBUSBARR­ON HEARTSTART TRAINING COURSE

CCDT in partnershi­p with the Bruce Memorial Church propose to organise ‘Heartstart’ classes in the community centre over the winter months. The training which will be provided by Trossachs Search and Rescue Team is designed to give attendees simple skills to Save A Life. It is not a fully comprehens­ive First Aid Course. Topics covered are serious bleeding, choking; recovery position; heart attack; cardiac arrest and how to use an Automated External Defibrilla­tor (AED) such as the one installed at the community centre. Classes usually last two hours and are interactiv­e with attendees having plenty of time to practise skills. There is no charge as such but each participan­t will be asked to give a donation towards the work of Trossachs SAR. MEMORIES

A date for your diary. Free illustrate­d talk entitled ‘Memories Unearthed Polmaise Castle’ on Saturday, October 23 at 2pm in Bruce Memorial Church Hall. Douglas Todd is guest speaker and his presentati­on is for anyone interested in seeing and hearing about the amazing work being carried out in the grounds and gardens of Polmaise Castle by CCDT and the volunteers. This is a great opportunit­y for Douglas to meet with anyone who played in the woods during childhood and would like to share their memories with him. LOGIE KIRK

Worship is taking place as usual every Sunday at 11.00am in the Kirk. Some welcome changes have occured. Although we are still following the Test and Protect Scotland guidelines it is now possible for people to sit with friends or other members of their family. The choir and congregati­on are also able to sing albeit wearing their masks so come along in good voice.
