The church has reopened and services are held in accordance with the Covid 19 restrictio­ns. Service on Sunday will be at the usual time of 11.15am when former locum Rev Valerie Allen will be welcomed. The date of the next Guild meeting is Monday, October 18 at 2pm in the Forth Inn when guest speaker will be a representa­tive of the Guild Project “Home of Good”. ST MARY’S BUSINESS FORUM

On Tuesday, October 14 at 7pm there will be a first meeting of St Mary’s Business Forum since the lockdown. This is a networking group for Strathard’s business community, and for those thinking of starting their own business. Refreshmen­ts will be served, and a small contributi­on (£2) is requested to cover the cost of these. There will be no guest speaker on this occasion but the topic under discussion will be “Impediment­s to starting or running a Business in Strathard”. This is in advance of a STEP video meeting the following Thursday.

WI NEWS

Next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 12 in the village hall at 7.30pm. The speaker for the evening will be Kirsty Waters who will demonstrat­e and talk about physiother­apy led Pilates. All meetings are open to members and nonmembers (£4). The competitio­n will be “A humorous verse about lockdown”. Please wear loose comfortabl­e clothing and remember to bring your own cup.

CALLANDER CALLANDER KIRK

Worship every Sunday at 11.15am led by Rev Jeff McCormick. Everyone is welcome to join (subject to Covid restrictio­ns). Third Sunday in each month - 6.30pm Short Communion Service online. CHURCH

All are welcome to Sunday’s service at 11.30am. The revised guidelines mean that there is now plenty of room for everyone who wishes to attend and it is no longer necessary to reserve a seat in advance. Face coverings are still required and social distancing is still in place, but we’re back to singing! Drymen WI is restarting its meetings. The next meeting is on Thursday, October 14 at 2pm in the Winnock Hotel. Please note the change of venue and time. There will be a demonstrat­ion of Papercraft by Fiona Eadie. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available. KIPPEN

On Sunday, October 10 at 11.15am the service will be conducted by Rev Lynne Mack. It will be necessary to wear a mask during the service, to use hand sanitiser on entry and exit and to leave contact details. Updates of interest can always be found on Facebook “Kippen and Norrieston Parish Churches of Scotland” and via Google. In accordance with Church of Scotland advice, in the meantime the church will be closed and alarmed every day, including weekends.

THORNHILL NORRIESTON CHURCH

Worship on Sunday will be “in person” in the church and will start at 10am. The usual and now familiar precaution­s still have to be taken but things are beginning to feel something like “normal”. The minister, the Rev Ellen Larson Davidson, announced that towards the end of the month she would be leading a series of Bible Studies based on the book of Job. Watch this space for details. She also reminded that gifts for the Blythswood Shoe Box Appeal for distributi­on to all parts of the world where there is great need, should be brought if possible to the church on Sunday, October 31, or delivered to Margaret McNicol by the end of the following week. Leaflets are available and informatio­n about the appeal can be found on line.
