Proposal toturn twoflats intoone house
Two flats in Dunblane could be turned into one house.
Bill Carman has submitted an application to Stirling Council planners to convert the flats at 1 and 2 Holmhill Lodge, Braeport.
The plans include replacing 13 windows, turning a window on the east elevation into a sliding door, installing solar panels on the roof and building a timber boundary fence to the rear.
Number 2 Braeport is one of a pair of houses built in 1820, which mark the west entrance to Holme Hill. The building is not listed and is situated in the Dunblane Conservation Area.
In documents submitted with the application, agents said: “The house has been heavily altered and changed over the years. It was most recently two apartments and used by the local hotel as staff accommodation. Internally there are no original features left and evidence of various Victorian, Edwardian and modern alterations and extensions.
“The proposals are to convert the two flats into one house and upgrade the existing fabric so that the building can be used as a single family home. The proposals are mostly internal, but the application seeks to obtain permission for external works including removal of the lean-to extension to the rear of the house, formation of a large, glazed opening to the garden at the rear, installation of solar panels on the south facing side of the roof (away from the road) and secondary glazing to front windows, new triple glazed windows to the rear.
“The rear garden will be accessible from an open-plan kitchen/living/ dining room via the new aluminium-clad timber framed sliding door.” Council planners are expected to make a recommendation on the application in due course.
