-

Stirling’s Coorie Creative has everything crafters need to make beautiful pieces for their home or winter wardrobe.

The shop opened its doors at the Thistles in August and is looking forward to welcoming customers as Christmas approaches.

It sells a variety of yarns and kits to make one of a kind pieces with a luxury feel using Shetland wool, crochet and felting kits and recycled materials including cashmere.

Suppliers include names like Rowan, Wee County Yarns, and West Yorkshire Spinners as well as a range of independent dyers like Dye Candy and Amo Yarn.

The store is run by former psychology lecturer Mairi Breslin.

Mairi said: “Crafts are well known as being good for your mental health and wellbeing. “They are a great way to relax. “I’ve been interested in crafting for quite a while, so when the opportunity arose to set up a craft shop in the Thistles I jumped at the chance.”

Workshops are also run at the store to teach people new skills like weaving, spinning or machine knitting – or to help them rediscover and improve on old

“We have a fantastic two-day learn to weave course running in the new year, along with specialist classes like sock knitting, Shetland lace knitting and gansey sweater knitting.

“Gift vouchers are available.

Kits are suitable for all ages to encourage people to make something unique using local premium wools.”
