HANDYPERSON SERVICE
Handyperson volunteers carry out small/minor maintenance jobs in older people’s homes in the Stirling, Bridge of Allan, Dunblane, Callander and Clackmannanshire areas. The service is co-ordinated by registered charity Volunteering Matters. There is no charge and donations are gratefully accepted. Volunteers welcome. The office in Cameronian Street regrets having to close its doors for an indeterminate period due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. NEURO CENTRAL
Neuro Central aims to ensure that people in Scotland who live with neurological conditions, as well as their carers and families, have access to high quality services, therapies, information and support in a friendly, relaxed environment so nobody has to feel alone. For the last 18 months, due to Covid restrictions, we have been unable to hold our ‘face to face’ meetings. As guidelines have now been relaxed, meetings have resumed on the first and third Monday of the month at Stirling County Cricket Club from 11am-1pm. Precautions will be taken to ensure, as far as possible, the safety of our members, volunteers and therapists. STIRLING CITY CHOIR
This year’s Christmas concert is on Sunday, December 12 at 7.30pm in the Church of the Holy Rude. The concert will include excerpts from Handel’s Messiah along with Christmas carols and music. Due to Covid restrictions, audience numbers will be limited, so please obtain your tickets early. Tickets must be purchased prior to the concert and can be obtained via choir members. Regular weekly meetings have offered the opportunity for anyone interested to share in prayers and readings on subjects such as “One Humanity”, “The Heart”, “Imprisonment and Freedom”, and “Love”. Also, monthly ‘Fireside’ discussion evenings offer such subjects as “Justice” and “Unity”; on November 26 the subject will be “Reflections on Baha’u’llah’s letter to Queen Victoria and Members of Parliament”, which was written from his prison in what was then Palestine.

FORTH VALLEY FRIENDS OF SCOTTISH OPERA
At long last the group is able to meet in person and on Sunday, November 28 at 2.30pm, chair Sasha Alexander will lead a conversation with Lea Shaw and Sioned Gwen Davies, two young singers about their lives and careers. Lea Shaw is one of this year’s Emerging Artists and has already taken part in the Opera Highlights tour. Sioned Gwen Davies was an Emerging Artist back in 2013-14 and has performed several roles for the company since, including Meg Page in Falstaff and Tessa in The Gondoliers. Please note that the meeting on this occasion is the Honeyman Hall, Bridge of Allan Parish Church, Keir Street. There are Covid regulations, including wearing a mask when moving around the venue. CARSE OF STIRLING ROTARY
Last week saw members gather at the Golden Lion Hotel for a business meeting where everyone gets together to socialise, enjoy a meal and discuss the business of the club. Members have been working away looking at the organisation of events like Santa’s Sleigh, Kids Day Out and the Primary School Quiz. Whilst the future can’t fully predicted, it is hoped that events like these can go ahead and planning is being done around this. OCHILS MOUNTAINEERING CLUB
A lot of hillwalking activity last Sunday with club members walking in Glen Etive, Beinn a’ Ghlo, Ben Vrackie and the Ochils. Seven members enjoyed a thorough outdoor First Aid course delivered by an experienced and qualified club member. With the shorter days the climbers in the club are arranging indoor climbing sessions at The PEAK in Stirling and Ratho near Edinburgh. On the social front, the pub meet tomorrow (Thursday) is at the Curly Coo from 8pm, non members are welcome to attend.
