Legends Coffee House at the Wallace Monument is welcoming the start of the winter months with a host of activities.

A Fun Family Foraging and Creative Session takes place on Saturday, December 4 from 2.30-4.30pm. After a short introduction, head out to the Abbey Craig to spend an hour foraging for some woodland treasure before returning to Legends Coffeehouse to warm up and create a winter-themed table decoration.

The session is aimed at families and is suitable for children aged six to 14 (accompanied by a responsible adult). Adults free, however children require a ticket, the price of which includes a hot chocolate and a hot dog. Adults get a 10 per cent discount on anything they purchase in the coffeehouse as well as an oasis base and a candle for each child.

Dress warmly and bring secateurs if you have them. Sturdy footwear is a must. Book at www.legendsatthemonument.co.uk.

A Woodland Winter Walk takes place on Sunday, December 5 from 2-3pm when a team from the Woodland Trust lead a walk on the Abbey Craig looking at tree identification in winter.

The walk is suitable for children aged eight year and over (accompanied by a responsible adult) and well-behaved dogs on a lead. Please wrap up warmly and wear sturdy shoes/boots. Woodland Trust will also have a stand outside Legends during the afternoon and will be happy to chat about all things relating to trees, woodland and wildlife. Tickets for the walk are by donation and can be booked at www.legendsatthemonument. co.uk.

RSPB will be at Legends on December 6, 10, 13 and 20 from 11am-4pm giving advice on how to help feathered friends over the winter months and hints on what bird life to look out for on the Abbey Craig at this time of year. No tickets required.
