Minute’s silence forlost
Co-op Funeralcare in Stirling is encouraging people in the area to take part in the National Day of Reflection on March 23.
The Stirling funeral home will be one of the branches displaying yellow pinwheel daffodils in the lead up to the day of remembrance.
The National Day of Reflection has been established by end-oflife charity, Marie Curie, to encourage people to take time to connect and support the millions of people who are grieving and to remember the family, friends, and colleagues that have been lost during the Covid-19 pandemic.
At noon, Marie Curie is encouraging people right across the country to take part in a minute’s silence to commemorate those who have passed away, to reflect on their lives and achievements and to reflect on the challenges the UK has overcome as a nation.
The Co-op funeral homes will also be hosting Walls of Reflection whereby anyone who has lost a loved one, in whatever circumstances, can come in and write a message to commemorate their life.
Co-op Funeralcare managing director Samantha Tyrer said: “As front-line workers throughout the pandemic, our funeral homes cared for and supported grieving families during times of devastating loss, all under the most extraordinary of circumstances.
“It’s important that as a nation we come together to take a moment to remember those who have passed away, to honour their memory and to ensure that people feel able to talk about their grief. ”
Marie Curie director of development and communities Michelle Martin added: “We hope local communities embrace the day, whether holding the minute’s silence at midday, wearing a Marie Curie daffodil pin, or in another way.”
