ALVA COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Alva Community Council is meeting online using Zoom until further notice. Members of the Alva community are welcome at all meetings and can request to join a meeting by emailing info@ alvacommun­itycouncil.org.uk. Please make your request to join the meeting two clear days prior to the meeting date. If you would like an item, put on an agenda, please email info@ alvacommun­itycouncil. org.uk. Elected Clackmanna­nshire councillor­s, police representa­tives and subgroups will be sent a link by email, to Alva CC meetings automatica­lly.

ALLAN CHURCH

Communion Service on Sunday, March 20 at 11.15am will be led by Rev Peter Gill with Welcome Team 5 on duty. All welcome. Please take a lateral flow test before coming to church. Church of Scotland mitigation­s are still in place. Allan Church is operating under Scottish Government guidelines and is organised with hand sanitisers and face masks (in case you forget your own). We are again collecting for the foodbank and any items can be left in the church. Lenten Bible Study at 2pm in Allan Church Community Hall today (Wednesday) and every Wednesday at the same time until Easter. Please come along and join in.

ALLAN CHURCH TUESDAY COFFEE CLUB

The club will run on the first and third Tuesday of each month due to reduced numbers of helpers. Next meetings are April 5 and April 19. It will still be from 10-11.30am. If you would like to help out please come along and speak to a member of the team. Organisers are looking forward to seeing everyone again. If the banner is out, then the club is are open, so feel free to join.

ALLAN CHURCH FUNDRAISIN­G AFTERNOON TEA BOXES FOR MOTHER’S DAY

Boxes can be ordered for Mother’s Day on March 27 by phoning Anne on 01786 812205. Each box costs £10 and will be delivered to your door between 1.30pm and 3pm on Saturday, March 26.

BANNOCKBUR­N BUTTERCUP CAFé

The cafe in Allan Church Community Hall is open on Mondays from 1.30-3pm. Anyone who would like to volunteer or help in any way please come along and ask for Aileen, Anne or Lesley. This is a well-being café to chat and get to know old friends and make new ones. There is tea, coffee and nibbles. Knitting bee, jigsaws, craft, card games with tea and coffee and music to help relax and chat. Feel free to come along and join.

MURRAYFIEL­D UF CHURCH

Sunday’s service will be held in the church hall at 10.30am and will also be available on YouTube at Murrayfiel­d UF Online from 10.30am onwards. The Scottish Government advises that face-coverings should be worn at services, and strongly encourages people to take a lateral flow test before attending services or gatherings. Indoor Walking Group meets on Zoom at 4pm on Mondays and Fridays - details from Jean Hastings.

LADYWELL CHURCH

The service on Sunday will include the Sacrament of Communion. Covid precaution­s continue with masks still being worn and names required for track and trace purposes. Please take a Lateral Flow Test before coming to church if possible. Tea and coffee will be available in the small hall after the service. Our Thursday Coffee morning is from 10.30am till noon and on Saturday, March 19 the monthly coffee morning is from 10.30am. Please come along and enjoy good company and a chat.

BRIDGE OF ALLAN PARISH CHURCH

Sunday service will be held in the church at 11am. The service will be conducted by Rev Dan Harper. Children can be dropped into Sunday School from 10.45am in the Chalmers Hall. The popular seated class has resumed In Bridge of Allan Parish Church Hall on Tuesdays from 1.45-2.30pm followed by coffee and a chat. Cost £5 per session. All welcome, suitable for wheelchair users. ST SAVIOUR’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH

Today (Wednesday) there will be a Quiet Eucharist at 11am in the Choir Vestry. The Lent Course continues in the evening. Sunday, March 20 is the third Sunday in Lent. At the 10am Eucharist the celebrant will be Rev Joan Lyon. Please wear a mask covering both your mouth and nose and sanitise your hands as you enter the church and also before you take communion. If you are able, please do a lateral flow test before you come and register your attendance with the Welcomers on duty. Please continue to maintain one metre distancing inside the church and try to avoid grouping too closely as you leave the church to chat outside. There will be coffee and biscuits after both the services. Please follow the above guidelines for this service as well.

WI NEWS

Next meeting will take place at 1pm today (Wednesday) in the community centre. Speaker will be Norman Samson, who will give a presentati­on on the History of Mauchline Ware. Competitio­ns are a favourite cup and saucer and three hyacinths (any colour). The Tuesday afternoon meeting will take place at 1pm on March 22 in the community centre. This will be a floral art session with the opportunit­y to create your own floral arrangemen­t. All members and visitors warmly welcomed.

BRUCE MEMORIAL CHURCH

Everyone is welcome to join for Sunday worship at 11am when the theme will be ‘Jesus: The Resurrecti­on and the Life’, reading the story of the raising of Lazarus in John 11. The service is also available to watch live or later on the Bruce Memorial Church YouTube channel. The church will be open for prayer every Wednesday from 10am-noon. With spring approachin­g it is time for us to tidy up the site for the summer. Sunday worship will be held at 10.30am. The preacher will be the Rev Mary Patterson. The service will include the sacrament of Holy Communion.
