Planners say yes to 66 solar panels

-

Planning permission has been granted for 66 solar panels to be sited in the grounds of a listed building in Dunblane.

Stirling Council planners have approved an application by Charles Wordie to install the panels at C-listed Row House to form a solar PV ground mounted system.

The panels will be on grassed garden ground to the west side of the house.

In their decision the planners said: “The site for the proposal is well set back from the public roads to the north and will be largely screened by trees and vegetation such that it would have a negligible impact from public road viewpoints.

“The height of the panels at the highest point is 1.59 metres. The area of the panels is 110 square metres. The site would be partly visible from housing in the locality, however the modest domestic scale of the proposal is such that it would not harm residential amenity or the surrounding countryside.

“The two rows of panels would be visually absorbed into the domestic garden setting of Row House.

“Local Development Plan Policy relating to renewable energy development supports microrenewable energy development where it would not impact on the historic environment. Row House is a listed building. The position of the proposed solar panels is located outwith the formal garden area of the listed building in an area of rough grassed garden where it would be partly enclosed by trees and so would not be read as affecting the character and setting of the listed building.”

No objections had been lodged against the application.
