ABERFOYLE WALK IN THE PARK

CHURCH

On Sunday at 11.15am the service will be taken by Rev Lesley Stanley. Tea/ coffee will be served after the service. It is recommende­d that a lateral flow test is taken before coming which must show a negative result and bring a mask. This also applies any person attending the church buildings. KIPPEN CHURCH

It is planned that Rev Ellen Larson Davidson will lead the service in Kippen Church this Sunday at 11.15am. Please take a lateral flow test before attending church. It will be necessary to wear a mask during the service, to use hand sanitiser on entry and exit. Updates of interest can always be found on Facebook ‘Kippen and Norrieston Parish Churches of Scotland.’ Access also via Google. In accordance with Church of Scotland advice, in the meantime the church will be closed and alarmed every day, including weekends.

BIBLE STUDY

A Lenten study using “Not a Tame Lion by Hilary Brand” looking at the writings of CS Lewis and movies based on his books and life will be held on Wednesdays at 10am. Ellen has a few copies of the study book and the DVDs of “Shadowland­s” and “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe” which can be borrowed. To date Kippen Parish Church has donated £1915 to the Church of Scotland Ukraine Fund. More money will be sent at a later date.

THORNHILL NORRIESTON CHURCH

This Sunday, the fifth Sunday in Lent, will start at 10am and will be led by the minister, the Rev Ellen Larson Davidson. It is still important that lateral flow tests should taken before attending in person; stay away if there are any untoward symptoms in the household. To the same end face coverings will be worn for the time being. But there is now no seating restrictio­n - a small step forward. Those who wish to worship from home can join the service on Zoom at the same time and the dedicated phone line, with music, readings and meditation, is regularly updated on 01786 585122. The Lenten walk tomorrow (Saturday) will be centred on Buchlyvie and will leave the church there at 10am. The Lent Study Group will resume on Wednesday, April 6 at 10am on Zoom, with Chapter 4 of “Not a Tame Lion” by Hilary Brand and is exploring the writings and faith of CS Lewis as depicted in the films, “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” and “Shadowland­s”. Copies of these are available from Ellen. Christian Aid has made available a Lenten podcast “Walking Humbly”.

UKRAINE APPEAL

In response to the Moderator’s plea for support of appeals to help all those affected by the conflict in Ukraine, the congregati­on has so far been able to send over £1200 to the Reformed Church in Hungary, a partner of the Church of Scotland. They have been involved from the start of the conflict and are well placed to provide assistance on both sides of theborder.
