Holiday hutsfor Drymen
New holiday accommodation looks set to be created near Drymen.
Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park planners have approved an application by Gordon Campbell for a change of use of land at Mar Cottage, Milton of Buchanan, to a caravan site.
The plans will see two ‘shepherd’s huts’ for holiday use placed on the site.
In their decision, the planners said: “Mar Cottage is a single-storey traditional dwelling accessed from the B837 and available as tourist accommodation.
“To the south of the site lies the neighbouring property of the former schoolhouse, also used as tourism accommodation. Diagonally opposite the site is Buchanan Primary School and Buchanan Parish Church memorial hall with associated parking.
“The application site lies to the northern side of Mar Cottage and measures approximately 800 square metres. It is an area of level garden, dropping steeply to the Burn of Mar at the eastern boundary. There are some mature trees on the site.
“The application proposes the siting of two shepherd’s huts on the site. These would each measure 2.5 metres wide by five metres long and three metres tall. They are sited on four wheels and are of traditional form with a curved metal roof and finished in timber. They would each have a wc/shower and would have new drainage connection to the existing septic tank.
“The proposal will improve the visitor experience in close proximity to the Natinal Long Distance Cycling and Walking network. The proposed development is of a unique design that is appropriate to the rural context. The siting is sensitive and will not impact upon trees on the site.”
