Road narrows as flooding issue tackled
The southbound carriageway of main road out of Dunblane reopened last Saturday, January 21.
It is now reduced to one lane for engineering work to take place.
The carriageway, which joins the Keir roundabout, had been closed for more than a week near the entrance to the Kippenross Estate on safety grounds due to flooding.
It had followed heavy rain falling on already saturated ground.
Dunblane Community Council chairperson Ailsa Gray had said last week that there was “an ongoing issue with blocked drainage gullies on the road”.
A Stirling Council spokesperson said last Friday: “We mapped and surveyed the road drainage network and are now working to address the issues identified, including the installation of new pipework.
“The road is scheduled to reopen to traffic tomorrow (Saturday,
January 21), but will be reduced to one lane for approximately one week to allow engineering works to be completed safely.
“We’d like to thank all road users and residents for their patience and understanding.”
Last week Stirling Council pointed to “higher than average levels of rainfall, saturated grounds and water from adjacent land is impacting on the road drainage system on this stretch of the B8033.”
A council spokesman added: “There has been no reduction to the level of service relating to road drainage, with road gullies across the council area cleared twice a year.
“A drainage investigation is ongoing and we are working as fast as we can to find a solution.
“We regret the inconvenience this is causing to the travelling public and are maintaining dialogue with the local community council.”
