Last week, we reported how rail passengers will see changes to the availability of some of Stirling station’s facilities from this week – and over the next two months – as part of the station’s £5million redevelopment.
The customer lounge and accessible toilet facility on platform 2 closed on Monday, January 16, for refurbishment.
But residents raised somme concerns on social media.
Helen Walls posted:“how can a train station not have a taxi rank people arriving with cases, bags of shopping, children and they now have to wait in the rain to cross the road with children in tow and go up the town absolutely ridiculous.”
Ross Brown said:“what an absolute car crash off a project, one way one week two way another week now back to one way no notifications pedestrians grossly inconvenienced no parking no taxis well planned SDC any wonder stirling emissions are the highest in Scotland, nothing but road works and traffic lights causing chaos.”
Darren Green posted:“so a pedestrian plaza (chunk of tarmac and a pointlessly narrowed road) but no taxi rank for integrated transport purposes. Who designs this nonsense?”
We also told how the family of a Doune teenager who tragically died of a rare heart condition were praised at Scottish Parliament for their awareness raising and fundraising efforts.
Callum Ferrier, of Doune, was aged just 16 when he died suddenly from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Determined relatives of the popular“sports mad”mclaren High School pupil have since raised more than £30,000 for Cardiomyopathy Association in a bid to other families avoid similar tragedy.
Edele Smith posted: “Cardiomyopathy UK is an amazing charity who have supported our family since my husbands diagnosis in lockdown! We can’t thank them enough.
“Callum’s family have raised this phenomenal amount which in turn has helped my family and others. I would like to thank them for their tireless fundraising.”
