BRIDGE OF ALLAN

The unseasonably favourable conditions allowed another weekend of the winter season to pass and bring us a step closer to the spring. The recent weather has left the golf course in good condition and the scoring over the weekend was evidence of that with some of the best scores of the winter being posted on both Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, Brian Paterson took the top spot after returning a score which earned 21 stableford points. This was one ahead of a group of four who all returned 20 points. After a countback, Frank Kelly was returned in second place with Tom Inglis in third.

On Saturday, the four members who returned scores of 20 points were only good enough for a share of fourth place with Keith Bath taking third spot but pipping them by one point to score 21. However, a countback was required to separate the two at the top after Sandy Robertson and Simon Pridden both had scores worthy of 25 stableford points.

Sandy had the better end to the round to win after the countback.

The generally high scoring has also shaken up the overall standings with the gap to Hugh Dent at the top of the Friday overall competition being cut to a single shot. There were also moves in the eclectic competitions being played. Dougie Gebbie has jumped to the front of the standings in the Saturday competition after his good score this week.
