Last week, we reported how developers of the site of a proposed Asda store are asking the public for their opinions of the plans.
Ramoyle Developments recently revived plans to bring the retail giants to Stirling, although the supermarket, based at Crookbridge near Springkerse, would be smaller than one originally proposed.
Iain Bateman suggested:“here’s a thought. Why not use one of either BHS or Debenhams spaces for an Asda. That way it won’t take anything away from the city centre.”
But Alan Horne replied:“where do u see a supermarket inside a shopping centre these days. Joined on maybe not in the middle of it.”
Kelly Mcmullen Lowe posted:“we need a big asda or superstore of any kind.
“We’ve got to travel to Alloa or Cumbernauld to get a decent supermarket, because Tesco in Stirling is pathetic. Sainsburys is the biggest store, but you need a bank loan lately for Sainsburys.
“Morrisons is just morrisons, nothing startling.”
Siobhán Wood wrote:“i’d like a bigger better Aldi - the one in Glasgow Bearsden is amazing.”
Valerie Hendry stated:“if they take away the Park and Ride many people, like myself, who don’t have a car, won’t have access to all these shops at Springkerse!”
Well-wishers sent their best wishes to pageant-loving teenager Jessica Allan, who is preparing for a Uk-wide competition at the end of this month with the chance to clinch a dream trip to Florida.
The 14-year-old from Fallin has been competing since the age of six and has raised more than £40,000 for good causes while taking part in the contests.
Lucina Martha Hunter said:“a beautiful girl good luck.”
And Evelyn Mcque posted:“good luck Jessica xx.”
There were also messages of congratulations for Stirling’s Oscar winner Lesley Paterson, after the film she helped write, All Quiet on the Western Front, claimed a muchcoveted Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.
Grace Macdonald said:“well done Lesley and from my home town too xx.”
And Anne Vallance posted: “Fantastic ! Well done!”
